Again, another amazing and educational post by @bxnpxckr. As a Fashion Journalist for Vogue, Magazine Uniform, Prada and Burberry, I admire him for using his voice and place within the industry to educate and inform those currently in the fashion industry, as well as those aspiring to get there. This is a topic which should be commonly known and talked about both in fashion education and general knowledge, not something which I'm only coming across via an instagram post.
He says "I was uneducated until I made this, I hope others in fashion can learn too". This is important as it is vital to inform those around us about these injustices, so the industry can finally accept and understand the damage they have done, and how they can positively move forward with change.
Taken from @bcnpxck's Instagram post, below are only a TINY selection of the exceptional black designers who have been omitted from a completely whitewashed fashion history:
Continue educating yourself and others, and make a conscious effort to buy from all the amazing black designers in the industry: Tracy Reese, Kerby Jean-Raymond, Carly Cushnie, Stella Jean - just to name a few.
All lives don't matter until #BLACKLIVESMATTER.
