New York: Day 1

After a long journey from Nottingham to Heathrow and then onto JFK airport, we finally arrived at our hotel by 4pm New York time. We stayed in The Gallivant Times Square Hotel and I honestly couldn't have faulted it! The room for the 3 of us (Emily, Christy & I) consisted of a bunk bed and a queen size bed. We had a gorgeous en suite, huge flatscreen TV and amazing views of the city.

After unpacking all of our unnecessary amount of luggage, we decided to freshen up and head out for some well deserved American grub at Bubba Gump Shrimp, one of the stereotypical US restaurants.

My day 1 outfit consisted of: a black reversible bucket hat (PLT), a sky blue knit turtle neck jumper (Topshop), Vivienne Westwood orb necklace, vinyl and faux fur shoulder bag (Topshop), leather-look jogger trousers (New Look), a leather bumbag with metal chain (DKNY), black longline puffer coat (Calvin Klein), and Calvin Klein Maya chunky trainers.

This was definitely one of my favourite outfits of the week.

After stuffing our faces, we practically rolled out of the restaurant and wandered around Times Square, before heading down to Hudson Yard.

Whilst walking round I saw an eye-catching ad on one of the tour busses, once again emphasising the importance of using less plastic and to recycle.

Me and Christy were also very impressed with the Yo!Sushi style hotel we saw as it had such an interesting futuristic look (https://yo.co.uk/yotel/):

Our next stop was The Vessel in Hudon Yard. It was without a doubt one of the most interesting structures I had ever seen! We spent ages just admiring the sheer scale of it, but unfortunately we arrived too late to have the walk around tour.

To end the evening we wandered around the Hudson Yards mall. Although many shops were closed, it was interesting to admiring all the different window displays, which you can click through below.

One store in particular which we all enjoyed was Muji. I'd never heard of this brand before and ended up realising how popular it was just across New York - there were so many! Inside, the visual merchandising gave the store a chilled out vibe, with lots of neural tones and wood. All of their items seemed to be exciting and reinvented to better improve their customer's day to day lives, such as the foldable suitcase.
