Postnatal Depression Awareness X Trent PTS

Brief 3 - a group presentation of insights, ideas, the message and story, the route to consumer, and a final developed poster.

Our team was set postnatal / perinatal suffering people as our target consumer. We had to research, develop and create a route to consumer plan to promote Trent PTS services to this group of people. We had to consider a poster design that would work both in print and digital format, and we were challenged to think of a more creative outdoor / interactive / guerrilla method as well. The objective was to engage with the consumer, and so it was vital to consider our use of language. It was also critical to use visuals specific to perinatal depressed people too.

The objective for this task is to demonstrate an understanding of a target audience, showing a developed plan for the route to consumer with creative responses that engages the audience well.

This brief is an opportunity to work on a live project and develop an understanding of how to create a route to consumer that targets and connects with a specific consumer group.

Who are Trent PTS?

Trent PTS is a psychological therapies service that has been operating since 2009. They provide services across all of Derbyshire and Greater Nottinghamshire (Nottingham City and the surrounding area) with over 150 clinicians. All their work is exclusively with NHS patients and is free to anyone who is registered with a GP in the areas in which they operate. They provide therapy for depressive and anxiety disorders. This ranges from stress responses to on-going problems to life-long difficulties.

The poster my team and I created is positioned below:

We then had to pre-record our presentation due to the university's closure (because of the pandemic) and upload it directly. This meant it was very difficult to limit our timing to 10 minutes as we didn't have a way to really practise together.

Below is a recording of the entire presentation, explaining our reasoning and insights, and of course the route to consumer:

In all honesty I didn't enjoy this brief at all, not just because of all the disruption to teaching with the closure of uni, but because I think it is too sensitive of a topic to explore (e.g, with primary research), and it is hard to understand how these people feel at our age, when none of us have experienced having children. Despite this, I do think my team did a great job, and we certainly found some great insights through Ryan's family members openly talking to us about their own experiences.

I think I'd feel confident in going to Trent PTS if I felt I was really struggling, as they do seem like a great support system.
