So, after a whirlwind first three months of settling into a new city, meeting all different kinds of people/friends, living off frozen pizzas and being drunk 5 days out of 7... it has reached the time in which I really need to get my brain working properly.
To end our first semester of FCP Year 1, we were set our new 'summative brief' - a visual report beginning with researching into a fashion trend story + brand + outcome. I have been set Gothic Noir + Fred Perry + Event. We are then to develop a variety of ideas shown through sketch book work, then create 3 mood-boards, and finally producing visualisations and mock-ups of my end outcome.
My first impressions of the brief were confusion and annoyance. This is because I felt no connection or interest with the brand, and believed the trend itself was rather vague. I have a rough idea that my trend is very dark (obvs), featuring lots of lace and layers, with sharp silhouettes - sort of like a black wedding dress? However, to completely contrast, my first thoughts around Fred Perry are that the brand is very simplistic, 'clean cut' and possibly a British heritage brand, as it is a name I have always been familiar with.
I will be continuing to document my research, ideas and final outcome through this blog so keep your eyes peeled 🤗.
